Greetings From Fujitsu Lifebook B Series 2131
« on: July 06, 2008, 06:47:29 pm »
Greetings!!!!

Well hello there. I got this thing from a friend for 50 bucks a few weeks ago. I had been sitting on it and finally ordered the power supply i needed from eBay for 23 bucks.

It came loaded with Windows ME. As soon as I got the power supply I ripped into the sucker and removed it.

This thing does not come with a CD ROM nor a Floppy so I tried with and External CD rom and that was a no go either. So i Pulled out the hd and installed it on another old school laptop i have laying around.

At first, and for giggles, I tried putting XP on the drive but once i moved it to the fujitsu it was giving me blue screens of death. I am pretty sure XP would not have run good at all on this thing. It only has a 200mhz Processor and 64mb of ram!!

The whole plan was to put Linux on it anyway.

So in the picture above you see Firefox running on D.S.L. Which stands for Damn Small Linux. Firefox was really really slow. It slowed down the whole system.

This thing is supposed to be touchscreen and i have seen drivers for Linux but i barely got this thing going and so I am posting it here. :)

Very cool. We use a lot of Lifebook series tablets here at work. I've used the T4010, the T4020, and the T4220. Our Home Health department uses the T4010 and they just parseed the three year mark for being in service. I have only lost one to monitor issue. That is a much better track record than we have experienced with the IBM X41 tablets. Luckily we got a three year warranty on the IBM's because they have been through so many bad system/logic boards it is not even funny. I push for Fujitsu purchases when new tablets are needed. The docs are happier and so am I. Not that the IBM's are all bad. The X61 tablet has given us better performance than the X41.

Kinda interested in when the 2131 came out - 200Mhz and Windows ME? Ouch!
