WTF? is FileMan?
well, if you dont have a webpage of some sort then this wont mean crap to ya. But this is what it is.
I came across this because i needed a way to upload files from any PC that can access the web. I made a My Files board where i would be the only one able to access and post, but i didnt like the way it fed to my Headlines Mod which tells you the latest forum topics on the main page of my site. So i went on a hunt for something else.
I typed in Perl Database at google and found some kewl crap but nothing that caught my eye. I then came across a little something called DBman by Gossamer Threads Inc. which was a DataBase type thing. It was more for storing information like Addresses and such, but when i started to peruse they other scripts they offered i found FileMan.

Which is kickarse because my webhost does not offer any kind of service like this. Alll editing of the website has to be done locally. http://www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/fileman/features.htminstallation was a breeze! you upload two files to your cgi-bin directory and run it from the web. you can also run it from a shell prompt (but i dont know crap about that). The only snag i ran into was the default settings for the images directory. it wants to put it into the cgi-bin directory, but that has to be in the root or htdocs directory. After that fix i was good to go!
