here is pretty neat way to use Linux to watch movies on any PC.

You make a CD with the Movies you want to watch along side with the needed Linux applications to watch just about any type of movies, including DivX.

This is cool be cause not everyone has laptops, but a lot people have regular PCs and you can carry your movies around, boot with the cd and watch the movies in just about any computer that can boot the cd. This is good when you are somewhere and cant install DivX codecs because of restrictions, like at school or work. So long as you can boot from CD you can watch your movies....

what do you think?

Very interesting...

I have been kinda interested in digital video lately - first, a friend at work had a video her brother made of his band playing a local club and he wanted it burned to a DVD... I don't have a DVD recorder, but I was able to make a VCD.

I also recently went to the 2600 hackers website and saw a reference to a hcaking group that had a downloadable VCD documentary. I downloaded it. The documantary want't that great as it was in a foreign language and didn't actually go into hacking that much, but it was cool to be able to download a file, burn it to disk, and then watch it on my TV.

I need to find some more downloadable VCD's...

i have made one or two VCD discs but have yet to find a DVD player that can play em. I dont have a stand alone dvd player, i use the PC or LapTop.

We did burn a few divx files and watched them on the Dreamcast. Way kewl.

if ya want more VCDs you must get into Usenet as i did with Xnews.
