installing the pocketMVP
« on: August 12, 2003, 03:06:03 pm »
i unzipped the file and the three zip files were extracted along with the setup icon. the three zip files have annotation for their respective processor.  When i run the setup file will it choose the right zip file for the axim, will it ask me to point to the zip file or do i have to unzip it and send those files to the same location that the setup icon is at?

Those three ZIP files are actually CAB files, but they have the ZIP icon because winZIP is arseociated with that file... ANYWAY.

Yes, the setup will automaticallly detect what you got plugged and install the correct one.

If for some reason it does not install, another way to install would be to copy the ARM.cab file to your Axim using the explore feature, and installing from there by clicking the file.

And i should mention, the Pocket PC uses an Xscale processor which based on the ARM processor, so anything that works on ARM will work on the Xscale...

get it, got it, good!

ok i got me the wireless keyboard, it's a micro innovations type and i installed the pocketop software.
When i tried to open the pocketop keyboard it gave me a message saying it could not find the COM port, so it didn't work? Then i went to the Help that it provides but there isn't anything there about COM ports. Any suggestions?

Uninstall whatever it was that installed, i guess you got it from the CD.

Once that is done download and install the driver for the Dell Axim on this site

http://pocketop.radiant.net/drivers.shtml

which is the fifth one down....

Once you got that installed, open word, and tap on the right bottom and a menu should pop up that says Keyboard, Block Recognizer, etc, and you should see one that says Pocket Top Keyboard now. click that one, and you are ready to start typping wirelessly....

oh and, you should have started a new thread for this topic dude, ill forgive ya this time...hehe...

Nothing is working man, but i read on aximsite that some guy sent the cab file to his axim, but what he didn't mention was in what area, what path he gave it. And then after sending it to the axim if he ran the setup from the desktop.  where is the cab sent?
