IE problem
« on: February 07, 2004, 09:47:28 pm »
aight i got a problem with internet explorer.  i had managed to lose my copy of mcafee internet security and spyware wormed its way on my PC and changed some IE registry settings.  i fixed most of em but now i have a really annoying problem.  whenever i type in a site in the address bar IE freaks out and thinks it needs to search for it using this standard:  for example im typing www.digisal.com into the bar, IE starts looking for http://ehttp.cc/?www.digisal.com
ive looked in all the registry settings for IE but cant seem to find where this would be getting its info.  any help would be greatly appreciated, the annoyance factor is a high 9 on this.

I had the same problem awhile back!

I managed to fix it with a little FREE software called SpyBot which can be found here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd

Download it and check for updates then Check For Problems. This software keeps a database of all SpyWare, AdWare, and Viruses that alter registry settings. It compares your registry to its databases and deletes the crap that shouldnt be there. Fixed me right up.

and if push comes to shove, reinstall IE with the steps i gave here:
http://www.digisal.com/forums/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=413

before you reinstall, be sure and save your Favorites.

Let us know how it worked out!
