I was looking for a particular file on the net last nite and decided to try iMesh, another file sharing program.
A few friends use it and have told me good things. Thier website states that is 100% no spyware. Well, thats a crock of crap. When you install it asks you if you want to install to pieces of software, and even if you dont want them it will still install them. of course i didnt know this.
I knew something was up when i couldnt search Google from my address bar any more, some other site i never heard of would come up. So i went to ADD/Remove programs and it had installed like Five apps. I always know what i have installed on this thing, whether it be throught the add/remove progams, or whether it be digging throw my directories and looking for crap i never heard of. So i knew iMesh was the culprit, i tried to uninstall as much as i could from there, and then ran Jv16 Registry Cleaner. But i still couldnt get my address bar to search google, plus i still had a few things showing up on my start up, ipinsight or something like that.
So i ran SpyBot
http://beam.to/spybotsd and cleaned out a bunch of crap that the Registry Cleaner missed.
SpyBot has a database of spyware and adware crap, and it compares it to your registry and then give you the option to get rid of it. which i did.
Its a good tool with great tools.
So if you running iMesh, run SPyBot, and then uninstall Imesh and get KazaaLite
http://www.kazaalite.comThe site has a lot of popups but the program does not have one..... [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
