last night i went ahead an upgraded my windows 98 to win2k. I went with the upgrade rather then the Clean Install. I figure I will run it to see how it goes, and if things start acting up ill do the clean install.
i had split my little 10gig drive into two awhile back with partition magic so i can make sure my media files wouldnt be lost. i then tried to ghost my C drive but ghost would not see my fixed disk. So last night i used PowerQuests Drive Image (these guys make Partition Magic as well) to clone my OS to cd. The software is pretty damned kewl if ya ask me. You have the option of saving the image to a seperate partition or directly to CD. I chose directly to cd. it didnt take but 15 minutes to image the C drive to three cds.
i have only ran into a few hardware and software issues because of the win2k upgrade. the only things i have not got going is my DVD player software and my sound is kind of funky, Creative has this lighting sound file that plays on boot and it is loud as crap!! everything else is normal. I havent tinkered much with it though.
i downloaded all security patches and all service paks for the OS. So its looking good so far!
