Its basically a whole operating system ON cd. the Project is called Knoppix

pretty kewl crap. it runs faster and smoother then my installation of Linux. This particular Linux distro is Debian where mine is Red Hat.

Pretty cool stuff...

Did you post this via Knoppix? Laptop or desktop?

i posted with my Desktop PC.

its a 700mhz AMD cpu with 128mB of ram.

It turns out i had downloaded the wrong Version though. I had the German version running. I managed to change the Language on a few things, but most of it was still in German. So, i'll download the English version tonite.

Its amazing the crap they can do with Linux. I guess it all has to do with Open Source. Doing something like this with Windows has got to be illegal.

I am having a difficult time figuring out how to save stuff to floppy. I can read the contents of my floppy but cant save to it. Been trying to look for some info but some of the documentation is lacking, or i am looking in the wrong place

Here i am again, but this time i am posting from the Laptop, and it runs even BETTER, looks a whole lot sharper and smooth as hell. Everything seems to be working okay, my touch pad works perfect, and i am obviously on the internet.

It does think i am plugged in to an outlet though, but i am running on the battery.

I had always wanted to do Linux on this Laptop but didnt want to go through the mess of reinstalling Windows XP.

By the way, this is a Compaq Presario 700 with a 900mhz AMD DURON Laptop....

i hate the fact that when i hit tab it does not take me out of this text box, it actually does a tab as it would in a word processor. oh well.
