Sounds like a cool distro. I talked with the IT guy at work and asked him about old laptops - maybe one will come my way.

I am sure it will break this theme that I love so much.

Highlights of this release include:

  • Several security-related fixes.
    Better compatibility with RTL languages.
Added curvy headers to loads of tables throughout SMF for the best Curve experience.
Fine-tuned conversation view in the personal messages section.
Improved read tracking of topics; e.g. topics are now marked as read by pages, to allow easier resuming of reading.
Several tweaks to the WYSIWYG editor; now automatically disabled on mobile devices.
Post screens (new topic, etc) are center aligned again.
Buttons are now aligned much more consistently throughout SMF.
Row color alternation to most of the tables in the administrative areas.
    Redesigned profile statistics centre.
Fixed install and upgrade script for PostgreSQL.
    Updated help section.
    Revamped SSI examples page.
    Rephrasing of several error messages.
Improvements to the package manager's archive extraction algorithm.
Toggling of full size versions of resized images.
Altered styling for quotes and code blocks

Computing / Greetings From Lubuntu

Lubuntu is another lightweight OS. I have a pretty descent Dell Optiplex SX260 with a Pentium 4 and 1gig of ram but Ubuntu nor Xubuntu would run good. In fact, web browsing would crash them. It would lock up and I was forced to hard reset.

Official site is here

http://lubuntu.net/

Lubuntu is running on the yet to be release Ubuntu Lucid 10.4 so it is still in Alpha. I used http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ to burn the ISO to a usb drive and then installed it on the HD of this Dell.

I really think the hard drive on this Dell is the cause for the crashes but have not invested on a new one just yet.

Anyway, the installion was a breeze and it seems pretty snappy! So give it a try.

Just ordered my memory - and they threw in a 4 GB SD card for free. COOL!

Cool!

I use Tom's eText Reader. It has a Gutenberg browser and works well. I'll have to check that other one.

There are a series of hotkey services built in to the ASUS - I can kill wifi, touchpad, adjust brightness, mute or adjust volume, close a window, sleep... and I disabled it at first by using CCleaner to kill startup stuff to speed myself up.

It's back on, now.
