Title: Founder of WebTV dies.
Post by: digiSal on December 30, 2003, 08:44:50 AM
From CNET:

Phil Goldman, the chief executive of antispam e-mail service Mailblocks, died the evening of Dec. 25 of unknown causes, according to the company. He was 39.

Before founding Mailblocks, Goldman worked at Apple Computer; General Magic; WebTV Networks, where he was a co-founder; and Microsoft, where he was vice president of advanced TV services. Goldman held 19 patents, and Mailblocks has made headlines this year with its patent-infringement suits against EarthLink and Spam Arrest for their use of challenge-response spam-busting techniques

The reason i am sitting right here is because of WebTV and Goldman.

Sometime back in 1997 or 96 Rob got WebTV and i thought it was very cool, so i wanted one too! Of course i was broke, and umemployed so Rob spotted me a few bucks, okay all of it, and i got me one. As with any other gadget i wanted to learn as much about it. You couldnt do much but surf the net, send emails, chat, and read newsgroups on Usenet.

With WebTV I learned what I know about HTML trying to get a cool email Signature. You werent cool unless you had a big arse signature with music playing, and it took forever to load! hehe...

do heres to you Phil.  :2thumbsup:
